Say Yes to the Stress

Updated: Sep 13, 2018

One of biggest trends over the last ten years has been self-help gurus promoting ways to reduce the stress levels in your life through relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing, and exercise.

Stress Can Be Positive

Positive stress is not defined by the irritant or other stressors present, but rather how you perceive that stressor. You can reject your dopamine boost as a negative threat, or you can welcome it as a positive challenge. High performers maintain positive responses, and view stressful situations with a sense of meaning, hope, or vigor.

Stress and Release

Bottom line, stress can be a positive force, motivating a person to make those extra sales calls or create a killer financial analysis report. It can sometimes trigger a Eureka moment that solves a tough problem, or tap a creative idea that seemingly came out of the blue. But often, no matter how hard you try to be positive about stress, it can still be a negative force.
